Supporting Member News

GRS Council Supporting Member Meeting in Boston

• June 7th, 2011

The second breakfast meeting between GRS officers and Supporting Members was held in conjunction with the Endocrine Society meeting in Boston.
Items discussed were:

• The Prader-WilliWorkshop that was held in Montreal (Oct. 2011)
• The format of the GRS sponsored workshops • The possibility of Diagnostic Companies being invited as supporting members

As pointed out in our Previous News Letter, Supporting Members can now Organize and Sponsor Satellite Sessions at our Meetings
Satellite policies are:

• The timing of satellite meetings must not conflict with GRS meeting times
• They could occur before or after the GRS-IGF meeting or could be held as a breakfast meeting
• Host of the Satellite meeting will organize and support the entire event • Speakers for the Satellite meeting must be submitted to GRS-IGF Program Organizing Committee for approval (so as not to conflict with speakers in the GHR-IGF Meeting)

• GRS thanks Supporting Members for your continued and enthusiastic support!

GRS Workshops and Consensus Statements

• One of the main goals of the GRS (that makes us unique) is to host periodic workshops in which experts in a given area of eGH actionf meet, discuss and debate the issue. This work ultimately results in a consensus statement that is published in a peer reviewed journal. To date, we have published 10 consensus statements. You can see these on our web site.

Our first Consensus Statement has been cited over 400 times!

• Diagnosis and Treatment of Adults with Growth Hormone Deficiency: Summary Statement of the Growth Hormone Research Society Workshop on Adult Growth Hormone Deficiency. J ClinEndocrinolMetab83: 379-381, 1998

Our most recent workshop: Growth Hormone in PraderWilli Syndrome. A clinical care guidelines workshop

• Held in Montreal; (Oct 3-6, 2011)
• 43 participants: pediatric & adult endocrinologists, multidisciplinary clinical specialists and other experts, basic scientists, patient advocacy groups, and corporate sponsors
• A consensus statement will be drafted by participants. Watch for publication in a peer reviewed journal
